SPEAK GOD’S WORD OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!
My parents have given me a gate opener to their house. They have this electric gate outside their home that cannot be pushed open with your bare hands– you have to use the gate opener to get in! Believe me, I’ve tried! There have been times I didn’t have the gate opener with me and I got out of my car and tried with all my might to push that iron gate open!!! Didn’t even come close!!!
All I have to do is push the little white button on my pocket size gate opener and it opens right up. They have given me free access to their home, their refrigerator, their ‘stuff’! Whatever I need, I am cordially invited to walk in and take it. Why? Because I am their child. They love me and they’ve given me anything that belongs to them! What a privilege, huh?
Well, God has done the same thing with you! He has given you a ‘gate opener’ that allows you to walk right into his presence and freely ask for whatever you need. You just have to use it! What is this ‘gate opener’?
“I will enter your gates with thanksgiving in my heart . . .”
How do you enter His gates? With thanksgiving. It’s that simple. Giving thanks to God causes you to enter the very presence of God. This principle has been one of the THE most powerful tools I have ever discovered in my life to:
defeat depression
When you lift your hands and begin thanking God for what you’re believing for and for who you need Him to be in your life (your Deliverer, your Provider, your Healer, your Redeemer, your Protection, etc), you have just pushed the gate open into His presence.
Complaining will keep the gate closed! We see that very clearly with the Israelites. Their complaining kept them in bondage causing them to turn an 11 day journey into a 40 year experience! All because of what was coming out of their mouths!
The same is true for us. If we want to get free in any area of our lives, if we want to move beyond a certain set of challenges, change what’s coming out of our mouths. Choose to give thanks for what God has already done, what He’s doing right now and what He’s about to do in your life.
The key to it all is to thank God BEFORE you see the change!
The bible actually says, “Be thankful and say so…” It’s not enough just to think it, you have to speak it.
Practice walking around your house thanking the Lord for something. Give voice to it. Look for things to thank the Lord for. Be creative. Those things that you usually take for granted, tell the Lord how thankful you are for them. I’m telling you . . . you are pushing that gate opener and walking right into the very presence of God. Your thanksgiving gets the ear of God!

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won’t survive the week. If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people around the world. If you attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than almost three billion people in the world. If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy. If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, especially in the United States. If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not. If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer God’s healing touch. If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all. You are so blessed in ways you may never even know. |
Push the button . . . open your mouth and give thanks. It will cause you to walk right into God’s presence.
